A 31-year-old man has been charged following a disturbance at a cabin near Rigolet on the weekend.
RCMP were called around 2:30 Saturday morning to a disturbance involving a firearm at a cabin area about 15 km outside the community, but the suspect had left the scene by the time officers arrived.
Police learned that a shot had been fired into the air during the disturbance.
The owner of the cabin had been assaulted but was not injured and was taken to a safe location while a search was carried out for the suspect.
Stephen Hope was located in a vehicle parked near the town dump around 5 a.m. and he was arrested without incident.
Hope is facing charges including assault, damage to property, impaired driving and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
The investigation continues.
