Iconic Canadian actor Donald Sutherland has died.
He was 88.
Sutherland was born in New Brunswick and had a respected stage career before coming to prominence as a film actor with roles in the Dirty Dozen, Kelly’s Heroes and most recently the Hunger Games.
He also made appearances in television productions including The Saint, The Avengers, and played a feature role in Kate Bush’s famous 80’s music video for Cloudbusting.
He is was an Officer of the Order of Canada, and was inducted into the Canadian Walk of Fame.
He received numerous awards and accolades for his acting including a Primetime Emmy, two Golden Globe Awards, and while an Academy Award nomination remained elusive to him, he was recognized with an Academy Honourary Award in 2017.
