Honda is recalling almost 240,000 vehicles in Canada over a defective part involving the steering which could cause a crash.
Honda reported the issue last week to government regulators, who issued the recall order on Tuesday.
It notes that the steering gearbox assembly may have been manufactured incorrectly, potentially causing “excessive friction” that could make it hard to steer and lead to a crash.
The vehicles were from model years 2022 to 2025 and include:
- 2022-2025 Honda Civic Sedan
- 2022-2025 Honda Civic Hatchback
- 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid Sedan
- 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid Hatchback
- 2023-2025 Honda Civic Type R
- 2023-2025 Honda CR-V
- 2023-2025 Honda CR-V Hybrid
- 2023-2025 Honda HR-V
- 2023-2025 Acura Integra
- 2024-2025 Acura Integra Type S
Owners should receive notice by mail, but can also contact Honda to confirm whether or not their vehicle is included in the recall.
The recall also affects about 1.7 million vehicles in the U.S.
