The Avalon Arena Association says the agreement with Capital Auto Group for renaming of the former Twin Rinks will be “critical” for the arena moving forward.

The busy St. John’s hockey rink is now known as the Capital Mitsubishi Centre.

Association Executive Director Kenny O’Leary says the company will also contribute to the look and feel of the facility through things such as signage and murals “and it’s a historic piece of hockey history as players that have gone on to play in the NHL played here. ”

O’Leary says “everyone has a story of playing at Twin Rinks; now their story will be playing at Capital Mitsubishi Arena and you can’t really put a price on that.”
