A new year means a fresh crop of new shows to start watching and streaming.
This year, in addition to a new season of Son of a Critch, viewers in this province can see a bit more of themselves in a new series called “Saint-Pierre.”
The new series from CBC Television, which debuts Monday, is set on the French islands just off the south coast of Newfoundland, but a lot of it is filmed in the St. John’s area.
The show’s co-creator and co-star is someone very familiar to viewers — Allan Hawco as Inspector Donny “Fitz” Fitzpatrick. Hawco is best-known for his long run as co-star on Republic of Doyle.
“I always wanted to do a straight cop drama but I couldn’t rehash what we did with Doyle,” he said.
“So it really took me a long time to get my head around that because I wanted to shoot here and I want to do things here. So that’s where Saint-Pierre came into the mix.”
