The RNC has issued an arrest warrant for a man who they believe has been trying to cheat people out of their hard-earned money.
Police have received multiple reports of a man soliciting home renovation and driveway repair work. He takes a cash deposit, but does not return to do the work.
A warrant has been issued for the arrest of 64-year-old James Dwyer of St. John’s.
Dwyer has been arrested on similar charges in the past.
Police are reminding property owners that contractors typically do not go door-to-door to solicit work. Homeowners should always verify a contractor’s credentials, and people are being advised never to pay for a service up-front.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Jim Dwyer is asked to contact the RNC at 709-729-8000. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or visit www.nlcrimestoppers.com.
