The Council of Canadians is raising the alarm over the “dubious economics” and the environmental damage caused by further hydro development in Labrador.
The Council of Canadians is echoing concerns raised by the Grand RiverKeepers in Labrador the MOU, which is now in the process of being finalized, should not have been approved, even tentatively.
Council of Canadians Avalon Chapter spokesperson Helen Forsey says greater hydro development in Labrador means greater environmental damage, and will have an impact on the people living downstream.
Forsey says the impact of “mega” hydro dams are always damaging, and there is thorough scientific evidence to back that up.
