A serial sex offender accused of disturbing acts at Her Majesty’s Penitentiary is back before the courts for a bail hearing.
Thirty-three-year-old Stephen Hopkins was due in provincial court yesterday but his case was postponed until this morning.
He faces three counts of wilfully committing indecent acts with intent to insult or offend, in the presence of HMP staff and others.
Hopkins is accused of similar offences in March of 2023, and four times last June, all at HMP.
Last year, he was sentenced to six and a half years in prison and declared a long-term offender after being convicted of sexually assaulting a teenager, in addition to previous sex offences.
At the time he avoided dangerous offender status, which would’ve resulted in an indefinite prison sentence.
