Police had to lay down a spike belt in Conception Bay South last night to stop a car which first sped from them in the west end of St. John’s.
The game of cat and mouse began at about 8:30, but did not end until the driver encountered the obstruction in the roadway.
A 34-year-old man has been charged with several breaches, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from police, resisting arrest and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
He spent the night in the lockup.
