The latest assessment of the hull of the cargo vessel Baltic III which ran aground at Lark Harbour just over a week ago, shows “significant breaches or holes” according to the Coast Guard.
Tank soundings have confirmed about 1.7 million litres of heavy fuel and marine gas oil on board the vessel, however, no pollution has been seen in the area.
Sea conditions hampered some operations over the weekend, including the ability to access the vessel safely.
The salvage team is continuing its assessment as sea conditions allow.
