International Women’s Day and the Year of Sport came together this week with Mount Pearl and CBS co-hosting the U18 National Women’s Hockey Championships this November.

Trevor Murphy of Hockey Canada says it’s exciting to see such high-caliber women’s hockey coming to Newfoundland and Labrador for the first time.

“Having this opportunity to showcase these women in the province is a great opportunity, not only for the province but to inspire all the young players coming up through,” says Murphy.
