The Registered Nurses Union says it is proud to take part in the 69th Session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women Forum taking place at UN Headquarters in New York March 10-21.
The RNU says this year holds special significance as they mark 100 years since women in Newfoundland and Labrador won the right to vote and hold public office.
The union says the fight for equality is far from over however, and women in nursing – one of the most female-dominated professions – continue to face systemic disparities. Among them are unpaid clinical placements and ongoing battles for fair wages and safe workplaces.
The RNU says at a time when one of the world’s most powerful nations is rolling back progress on diversity, equality, inclusion and belonging, they will not retreat.
