Prime Minister Mark Carney and French President Emmanuel Macron have committed to a close collaboration based on strong historic and cultural ties as they tackle economic and geopolitical challenges facing Canada, Ukraine and the E.U..
The two leaders exchanged expressions of mutual respect and appreciation as they committed to work together toward shared goals.
Speaking in Paris today, Mark Carney says both countries stand for sovereignty and security, “demonstrated by our unwavering support for Ukraine.”
“With you Mr. President” Carney said addressing Macron, “I want to ensure that France and the whole of Europe, works enthusiastically with Canada – the most European of non-European countries – determined, like you, to maintain the most positive possible relations with the United States.” He says Canada is “a reliable, trustworthy, and strong partner of France, which shares our values and lives them through action during this age of economic and geopolitical crisis.”
