A man is dead after a shooting in the east end of St. John’s.

The incident unfolded last night on Watson Street in Virginia Park.

The RNC have yet to confirm anything regarding the shooting, but people close to the situation say the man who was shot has died.

Police confirmed that one person had been taken into custody but did not provide any details about the suspect.

The RNC will comment on the situation this afternoon at a news conference. VOCM News will be there.

One person is in hospital and another in custody after an incident involving weapons in the east end of St. John’s.

Numerous RNC officers were on the scene on Watson Street in Virginia Park last night.

It’s still an active investigation so residents of the general area can expect a large police presence for some time.

Police say there is no threat to the general public at this time.
