The province’s health authority says it’s pleased with progress made since the launch of the new CorCare digital health information system – that’s despite concerns raised by physicians and others.
The NLMA expressed concern last week about delays and gaps in care during implementation of the new system, but Interim CEO Ron Johnson likened those delays to the equivalent of “two snow days.”
He expects all operations to return to normal in the next few weeks.
Some services, such as blood collection appointments, were halted for nearly ten days as NLHS scaled back services during the transition period.
Johnson says those services are back on track, but others—like lab tests, diagnostic imaging, and some surgical procedures—may require more time to get back to full schedule.
“There are still areas where people are still learning and adapting on the system. We’re applying support to those areas, and that will continue for as long as is needed,” he told reporters.
“But the system will return to normal. It will return to normal, I would say, within the next couple of weeks.”
