Two ATV riders on the west coast who were overdue have been located by Deer Lake Ground Search and Rescue.
A call went into Deer Lake RCMP at midnight last night that two people on a side-by-side failed to return as scheduled. The ATV had gotten stuck on a trail near Pynn’s Brook, and the riders began walking toward Pasadena.
Initially, the two were within cell range of the RCMP but communication was eventually lost so police contacted Search and Rescue. The missing riders were located this morning by searchers – cold but otherwise okay.
Police note that with the long weekend upon us, it’s important when travelling to have a cell phone, satellite phone or SPOT device. They also recommend that travelers let others know bout their plans and expected return time.
