The union representing over 55,000 Canada Post employees plans to be on the picket line as of Friday morning.
The Crown corporation received strike notices from CUPW yesterday, stating operations would be coming to a halt as of this Friday at midnight unless the two sides can come to an agreement.
That would mean the second disruption in the mailing system in six months as workers went on strike just before Christmas.

The federal government stepped in, mandating employees back to work as the collective agreements were extended until May 22.
The two sides have struggled to make any progress at the bargaining table, with Canada Post temporarily pausing talks last week.
Should postal workers go on strike, no new items will be accepted by the postal service and items already in transit will be secured but not delivered.
