A 14-year-old and a 49-year-old man have each been charged after a hit-and-run collision on Bauline Line involving an ATV and a child who had just stepped off a school bus and was crossing the road.
RNC Constable James Cadigan says the ATV, operated by a 14-year-old boy with two others on board, ran a red light and passed the school bus, which had stopped with its sign and red lights flashing.
He says the ATV clipped a child who had just gotten off the school bus and was crossing the road. “The ATV then left the area.”
Cadigan says thankfully, the child was not seriously hurt, but the ATV driver and the teen’s father were charged.
The 14-year-old was charged with leaving the scene of a collision and passing a red light, while the parent is facing three charges, including permitting unsupervised operation of an off-road vehicle.
