The act of a newborn baby spending time laid against their caregiver’s skin is known as kangaroo care as it mimics how kangaroos place their young inside their pouch.
Several new mothers at the Janeway recently participated in a 24-hour global kangaroo-a-thon, a friendly competition to see who could log the longest amount of skin-to-skin time.
Pictures shared on social media by Baby-Friendly Newfoundland and Labrador show several babies engaged in loving moments with their mothers.
