The provincial government marked Provincial Francophonie Day with a flag raising ceremony at Confederation Building.

The day has been observed in Newfoundland and Labrador since 1999 as a way of celebrating the local francophone community.

The ceremony, which was organized by the Francophone Federation of NL, took place at 11 a.m.

Confederation Building will be lit up in blue, white, and red tonight as part of the day as well.
