Premier John Hogan is encouraging people to be vigilant following a busy start to the forest fire season this year.
There are currently fire bans in place across the Northeast Avalon, and many areas of the province are at a high risk of forest fires.
There have been 92 wildfires in the province so far this season, including a tense blaze near Churchill Falls earlier this week and fires that ravaged the Adam’s Cove area earlier this month.
Hogan says heading into the summer, people need to be aware of where potential hot spots are and whether fire bans are in place.
He says forest fires can come on very fast, as was seen in Adam’s Cove, which is why it is important for people to follow the directions of government and fire departments.
