The Carbonear Volunteer Fire Department was busy yesterday responding to what has been described as a forest fire in the town.
Crews from Carbonear and Harbour Grace were called to a wooded area on Columbus Drive, near the Dollarama, around 1:30 p.m. to handle a fire that produced heavy smoke.
The fire has since been contained, and officials are reminding the public that a fire ban is currently in effect for the area.
