It’s a long-awaited rematch for fans of the Edmonton Oilers as they face-off against – once again – the Florida Panthers.
Last year, Florida beat the Oilers in a dramatic 7-game series. .
It’s bound to get Oiler fans worked up, as they are the latest team to try to end a 32-year drought for a Stanley Cup champion from Canada.
And that’s making even casual fans be more interested, as well.
Andrew Corbett of Maverick Sports in St. John’s is longing for the day that Montreal or Toronto reaches the final.
They had to order all their Stanley Cup merchandise a couple of weeks ago and there are items for the Oilers and Panthers with the Oilers being the more popular of the two. Had Toronto made it to the final, Corbett would’ve brought in some $30,000 worth of Maple Leafs gear.
Game one starts tonight at 9:30 NDT.
