The province is ready for a very busy summer as the capital city region prepares to host the Canada Summer Games.
Tourism Minister Fred Hutton says he’s toured some of the new Canada Games facilities and says they’re ‘world class.’
He recently toured the Aquarena which is “almost finished and ready for the Canada Games.” He also toured the Fortis Field just outside the soccer pitch and track and field facility and “it is literally world class.” Yesterday he toured the Rogers Tennis Dome, formerly the old Green Belt Tennis Dome “which was built in 1977 for the Canada Games then, and it’s been totally refurbished and expanded (with) brand new courts” and an extra court added. “It’s absolutely gorgeous,” says Hutton.
The Canada Summer Games run from August 8 – 25 with some 5,000 athletes, coaches, families and support staff participating and some 5,000 volunteers helping things run smoothly.
