Our Lady Queen of Families Roman Catholic Church in Mount Pearl is hosting a blessing of the graduates event tomorrow for all graduating students in the metro region.

Andrew Stinson, a graduating student from O’Donel High School and President of the school’s student council, says the event is open to all graduating students and their families in the metro region, of all denominations.

He says they’re having a barbecue after the event as well. He says they planned the event because graduation ceremonies aren’t typically open to extended family like grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. “You only usually can bring like two or three guests, to the actual grad…so we’re just trying to have this as a way that the families can celebrate their graduating students.”)

The blessing of the graduates takes place tomorrow at 12:30 at Our Lady Queen of Families. All are welcome, but they’re asking people interested in turning out to register on the church website so that they can prepare enough food for the barbecue.
