The Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers is encouraged by what it calls the federal government’s flexibility and efforts to work with the provinces to accelerate the approval process for major projects.
The federal government recently introduced its One Canada Act, to help remove interprovincial trade barriers and move forward with what Prime Minister Mark Carney calls national-building projects.
CAPP President and CEO Lisa Baiton says to restore the confidence of investors and spur economic competitiveness, Ottawa also needs to take “a hard look” at the inefficient and cumbersome regulatory environment.
CAPP supports the doubling of the Indigenous Loan Guarantee Program to encourage greater equity ownership and says expanding projects like LNG export facilities, pipelines, and carbon capture projects will expand access to global markets.
