Members of the media will get their first look at the newly-renovated Aquarena facility this morning.
The Aquarena was first built for the Canada Summer Games back in 1977.
It closed in September 2023 to undergo major renovations to get it up to par for the games this year.
Throughout the long renovation process, rumours have been running rampant that the facility will not be ready in time for August, with some indicating that swimming competitions would have to take place in another province entirely.
Those rumours have been denied at every turn by members of the Canada Games Host Society and provincial government officials.
Now, Memorial University says construction is nearing completion and the Aquarena will open as planned in August.
Media will tour the facility at 11 a.m. VOCM News will be there.
