The CEO of Hydro-Quebec has resigned to join Prime Minister Mark Carney’s cabinet as Clerk of the Privy Council and Secretary to the Cabinet effective July 7th.
Michael Sabia was in St. John’s last week, joining NL Hydro CEO Jennifer Williams at the Energy NL Conference touting the importance of finalizing an MOU between the two corporations on expansion of hydro development in Labrador.
Sabia is no stranger to federal politics, he served as the Deputy Minister of Finance in the Trudeau Government in 2020.
He served as the CEO of Hydro-Quebec since 2023, and was the President and CEO of the Caisse de depot et placement du Quebec.
