Controversial plans to move gynecological services to the Janeway hospital have been shelved for now.
The goal was to make use of unused beds at the Janeway to clear backlogs at the Health Sciences Centre.
Gynecology would’ve taken over space occupied by a community clinic at the Janeway.
But NLHS CEO Dr. Pat Parfrey says it hasn’t happened because they couldn’t find a home for the clinic.
“The potential for lease space doesn’t exist so we are not able to move the children and youth clinic that’s using patient beds at the Janeway, so at the present moment there’s no plan to move gynecology into those beds.”
