Over 260,000 swimming pools sold across Canada have been recalled following reports of nine deaths in the United States.
Select above-ground pools sold under the brands Bestway, Intex and Polygroup have been recalled, with the notice affecting products sold as far back as 2003.
Health Canada says compression straps running along the outside of the pool may create a foothold, allowing small children access to the water unattended.
There have been no reported injuries or incidents in Canada. Anyone owning a pool listed in the recall is urged to contact the company for a repair kit.
