The Tories are calling on the provincial government to draw up a financial relief plan for displaced residents of Musgrave Harbour.
The 900 or so people were evacuated a week ago and spent a full five days out of their homes before being allowed to return on Friday afternoon.
The PC MHA for Fogo Island-Cape Freels, Jim McKenna, notes that government came through last year for residents affected by wildfires in Labrador, and should do the same for Musgrave Harbour.
“People in Musgrave Harbour have endured a tremendous amount during this crisis. Having to evacuate their homes and face uncertainty is a heavy burden to carry. It is time for the government to step up and offer the support that our communities truly need,” McKenna stated.
“Last year, the government provided much-needed assistance to residents in Labrador affected by wildfires. We need to see the same commitment for the people of Musgrave Harbour.”
