There’s a two-day festival going on in Bowring Park this weekend to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Peter Pan statue.
The park’s namesake, Sir Edgar Bowring, placed the statue in the park and dedicated it to his granddaughter, Betty Munn, who died in the sinking of the S.S. Florizel.
A member of the organizing committee, Gaylynne Gulliver, says what began as something sad has turned into something happy.
The Peter Pan Festival runs until 4:00 on the lawn of the Bungalow, culminating with an outdoor movie on the lawn at 9:00.
