Forestry officials have shifted the status of the Martin Lake fire to “under control,” the same classification as Paddy’s Pond.
Ground crews will continue to provide work on hotspots, but helicopter bucketing is no longer being offered at the site, a decision that can be reversed if needed.
Meanwhile, the wildfire near Kingston remains “out of control,” and crews are continuing to work on hot spots.
As of their mid-morning update, the government expects its aerial suppression to start in short order.
Ground crews from Ontario, BC and the Canadian Armed Forces remain at the site.
