The province has received several responses to a call-out in July looking for a new swing vessel to add to the provincial ferry fleet.

Government issued the request for information following a tumultuous few weeks for ferry users on both the Bell Island and Fogo Island runs.

Transportation Minister Elvis Loveless says by the September 5 deadline, it received eight submissions, with a possible ninth in the offing.

Loveless says he is anxious to look at the submissions and see what they can do to bring another vessel here.
