Warm temperatures in the capital city yesterday contributed to a new record.
According to Environment Canada meteorologist Rodney Barney, yesterday was the 80th time St. John’s has seen a day above 20 degrees this year.
That breaks the old record of 79 days set in 2012 and 2022.
It was an unseasonably warm day across the entire province, with temperatures in the low to mid 20s in most areas.
With the temperature already just above 20°C at 11:30 AM, St. John's #YYT has officially registered its 80th day reaching 20+°C in 2025. This breaks the old record of 79 days, set in 2012 & 2022, for most occurrences of a Tmax =20°C in a calendar year. ???#nlwx
