It could be at least tonight before the first wave of stranded passengers gets aboard the Marine Atlantic ferry for Argentia.
The Ala’suinu has been out of commission for days, forcing some travellers who phoned the VOCM Newsroom to pay out of pocket for hotels and food while the vessel undergoes repairs.
The ferry had mechanical issues leading up to its crossing to Nova Scotia, before the customers heard their sailings were cancelled altogether due to engine issues.
Some travellers say there has been little word on when the backlog will be cleared.
