Twillingate RCMP have arrested and charged a retired teacher with sexual offences that allegedly took place over the course of five decades.

Seventy-six-year-old David Regular of Summerford was arrested on September 15th after RCMP received multiple reports of historical sexual assaults said to have occurred between 1970 and May of this year.

Police have already spoken with numerous complainants, and believe there could be more victims. They are asking anyone affected, or who may have been a witness, to contact them at 709-884-2811.

Regular is currently facing 15 charges in total. There are six counts of sexual assault, two counts of sexual interference, and seven counts of indecent assault on a male – a charge which relates to a previous version of the Criminal Code that dates back to the 70s.

The accused has been released on conditions and will appear in Gander Provincial Court on December 16th.
