Some say furniture is a big part of what makes a house a home but for people transitioning out of homelessness or crisis, the cost of furnishing a new place can be a major barrier.

Home Again Furniture Bank provides used furniture to those in need, and now it has a new partner to help make that happen.

Smith’s Furniture and Appliances has teamed up with the charity for an initiative called “Pick Up Partnership.”

The chief operations officer at Smith’s, Ray Hodder, says they try to give back to the community especially where youth groups and vulnerable populations are concerned, so the partnership with Home Again was a perfect fit.

“Essentially what happens is Smith’s Furniture is going to pay the pickup fee for (any Smith’s customer) that is willing to donate their gently-used furniture to Home Again,” says Hodder.

“We love supporting local and Home Again is a great local charity.”
