A busy week of elite hockey action gets underway today as CBS and Mount Pearl co-host the Women’s U18 National Hockey Championships.
Mount Pearl Mayor Dave Aker says it’s a chance to see future members of Team Canada’s Olympic hockey team in action.
Eight teams from across the country are playing for the championship, including Team Atlantic which features four local players.
The first game in the tournament is this morning, while Team Atlantic’s home opener is at 2:30.
The week-long tournament wraps up with the championship game next weekend in CBS.
