The MHA for southern Labrador is calling on government to do a review of a situation in which a woman in Charlottetown died while waiting for an air ambulance.

Ovadius Morris, who was only 53, was waiting for the medevac, but the plane never did land.

Now, many questions are being raised as to why. MHA Lisa Dempster understands that it’s always the pilot’s decision whether to land or not, but says that does not mean that the government of the day should not look into such situations. She firmly believes that the system failed her neighbor and friend.

“A young woman passed away, so why were other options not considered here,” asks Dempster. “If there are limitations, then we have to look at that. The plane is only one piece as there are other options. We need a patient safety review.”
