Kids Eat Smart, an organization that ensures that all students have access to breakfast each and every school day is calling it the greatest amount raised in their history.
The annual Kids Eat Smart VOCM Cares radiothon on the VOCM Radio Network raised just over half a million dollars and Executive Director of Kids Eat Smart, Celina Stoyles couldn’t be happier.
“We received $562,499 for the children and youth of Newfoundland and Labrador” says Stoyles, “so on behalf of every one of them who will have breakfast because of you, we want to say thank you.”
She says the amount far exceeded their expectations and will go a long way in helping to deliver breakfast to some 47,000 students across the province every single school day.
“At a time when we know families are struggling, people are finding it hard to make ends meet…and more people reached into their pockets, and a lot more companies and organizations just showed up and said ‘we want to give to the children of Newfoundland and Labrador.’ It is the most incredible radiothon we’ve had in the history of Kids Eat Smart.”
