Just when you thought the worst was over, another storm system is on the way, this time with the Burin and Avalon peninsulas directly in its crosshairs.
Environment Canada meteorologist David Neil says the latest storm is forecast to pass over the southeastern portion of the island starting around mid-day and reaching the metro region by early evening.
He says the storm will bring rain, strong winds and even some snow inland and over higher elevations.
“The storm will go through fairly quickly so by the time people are getting up and on the go early Friday morning, winds will still be fairly strong, but the strongest winds will likely happen in the late evening (Thursday) and the overnight hours (Friday morning).”
He says the winds are not expected to be quite as high as what we saw earlier in the week.
