A call for people to try plates of fish and chips at local restaurants, and vote for their favourite, has turned in to $10,200 raised for the VOCM Cares Foundation.
Throughout August VOCM Cares held a Fish & Chips Challenge, where funds were raised at participating restaurants through the sale of those meals.
McNiven’s Pub and Eatery in Airport Heights spearheaded the initiative, with eight other shops in total signing on to the challenge.
McNiven’s co-owner, and former PC leader David Brazil they now hope to make the challenge an annual event.
He says it will be held every August, and they are hoping to have more restaurants joining in year after year.
