Snow clearing crews are beginning to put a dent in a Christmas Day snowfall that has left the Avalon Peninsula, Clarenville, parts of central and parts of the south coast with a slippery drive.
Church services were cancelled, Metrobus pulled its service, and it was slow going on the roads.
The snow has turned to rain on much of the Avalon, but will stay on the fluffy side elsewhere. About 10-15 cm has fallen so far.
The stormy weather did not interfere with a lot of things as only a small number of people have to be “at the shop” but some Christmas dinners may have a few empty chairs around the table.
Environment Canada is watching another system which is likely to pounce in some areas Boxing Day night.
