Marine Atlantic has a new vessel which will mean additional capacity on the Gulf ferry run.
The corporation has a five-year agreement with Stena to lease the A Nepita.
It’s ice-class rated, equipped with three bow thrusters, and deigned for both passenger and commercial traffic. It is equipped with cabins, restaurants, and seating areas.
The vessel will undergo modifications to enable it to integrate with Marine Atlantic’s docking infrastructure and will arrive in the province this summer. It is expected to be pressed into service in the fall.
The vessel was most recently operated by Corsica Linea on the Marseille to Corsica ferry service in Europe.
