All of the evidence has now been entered in the trial for accused sexual predator Tony Humby.
Yesterday, the defence called its only witness, a social worker who cared for one of the alleged teenage victims.
It was an effort to suggest the boy lied to Humby about his age — saying he was 18 instead of 14, a theme for the defence throughout the trial.
It began last summer after a series of delays attributable to both sides that have put the case past the 18-month limit to finish.
The judge will next hear arguments on who’s most to blame for that, which could lead to some or all of Humby’s 71 charges being dismissed.
The defence has asked for more time to prepare for that, with the Crown noting they’re ready to go now.
Nonetheless, all closing arguments in the case are set for March 23rd.
