Gander RCMP were alerted after a driver, who was suspected of being impaired, left the ferry terminal at Farewell on the weekend.
Police were called Sunday afternoon and found the suspect vehicle traveling along the Gander Bay Road.
The driver was pulled over, and arrested following a roadside breath test.
The 41-year-old provided two more breath samples that police say were above the legal limit. His vehicle was seized and impounded, and his licence was suspended.
He was released on conditions to appear in court at a later date.
