Two men are facing a slew of charges after two RNC officers were assaulted on George Street.

RNC was called to the area around 2:40 this morning in response to an irate man.

While officers were speaking with the man, he began to attack them. While attempting to get that situation under control, a second man jumped in and began attacking an officer.

Police were able to arrest the pair who now face several charges.

A 24-year-old man is facing charges of assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, possession of a prohibited weapon, breach of probation and breach of release order.

A 26-year-old man was charged with two counts of assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest and uttering threats.

They were held for court.
