The United States has won the gold medal at the Olympics, scoring early in overtime to knock off Canada 2-1.
Canada had plenty of chances in the game but Jack Hughes stifled their hopes with only a minute and 42 seconds gone in the extra frame.
Canada outshot their rivals by almost 2-1 but former St. john’s IceCap Connor Hellebuyck stood tall. Regardless, the Canadians missed a few open nets by inches during regulation.
The U-S-A wins both hockey gold medals in overtime and by identical scores.
