Canada Post is responding to questions surrounding a delay in the delivery of some mail in the metro region.
Craig Dyer of CUP-W remarked on continued delays in mail delivery on VOCM Open Line with guest host Darrin Bent earlier this week.
He called the main sorting station on Kenmount Road in St. John’s a “warehouse for mail” because there isn’t enough staff to sort through the backlog.
Canada Post says parcels, packets and letter mail flowing through processing machines are all up to date, however product processed through the manual stream is delayed.
The corporation say that includes personalized mail including magazines, that arrived by trailers and were delayed crossing the Gulf because of weather.
Canada Post says it has a “fully staffed” team at the main sorting station that “is efficiently addressing” the challenges caused by the backlog.
It apologizes to customers for delays and thanks them for their patience.
